Tooting High Street

Located on the former Mercedes Benz car showroom in Tooting and with a Carpet Right on the opposite side of the road, this site was developed to provide exclusive private flats on the upper levels and social housing on the adjacent site. The contemporary approach to the design reflects the traditional gable elevations along the upper parts of Tooting High Street, with a prominent tower on the corner to mark the change in direction. Stepping up from the east to the corner, the ground floor was designed with a doctors’ surgery, retail units and commercial offices. The quality is maintained throughout on both sides of the road, treating the private and social housing with equal care. Car parking is concealed from view at the rear under a landscaped deck, providing a significant amount of amenity space accessible from the flats.
